Life is sweet for Romford beekeeper Stephen Stubbs who has been named as the lucky winner of a luxury caravan holiday home by Park Holidays UK.

Stephen trumped thousands of other entries in the park group’s annual draw for the keys to a fully equipped leisure home at Harts Holiday Park in Sheerness.

Similar caravan holiday homes to Stephen’s prize, a two-bedroom Willerby Etchingham with double-glazing and central heating, sell at the park for over £40,000.

All of his pitch fees and other site expenses for 2018 are covered, and decking specialist Fitrite have supplied skirting and outside decking for him to relax and enjoy al-fresco dining.

London Underground pest control officer Stephen can now look forward to year-round breaks at one of Park Holidays UK’s most popular seaside parks.

The group operates 29 parks in total, but Stephen opted for Harts as it is an easy drive from where he lives, and he also has friends who are holiday home owners at the park.

In addition, he says, there are many lovely countryside and coastal walks nearby for him to enjoy with Tiny, his energetic three-year-old Jack Russell cross.

During his visits, Stephen also intends to spend time fishing and metal-detecting, two among his long list of his hobbies which also includes bee-keeping.

Like other holiday home owners at Harts, Stephen will have free use of the park’s extensive leisure facilities which include an inside pool and nightly cabaret shows.

Stephen says he rarely enters competitions and has never won any type of prize before – so the news of his success came as a huge surprise:

“To be honest, I thought at first the letter might have been some sort of scam, so I didn’t get my hopes up until Park Holidays UK confirmed it really was true!” he said.

“It will be a proper life-changer for me, and having my own holiday bolt-hole means being able to.

“Harts Holiday Park is a great place to be, and what makes it really special is the friendly and warm atmosphere among staff and other holiday home owners,” added Stephen.

Stephen said his stays will also help to bring back happy childhood memories of seaside caravan holidays taken with his parents in Sussex and Essex.
