When a Kendal-based caravan supply firm recently held a 35th anniversary ball, the evening ended on a high both for guests – and a Cumbria cancer charity.

More than £8,000 was raised by Kendal Caravans on behalf of the Rosemere Cancer Foundation at its celebration and fundraising night in November.

The sum will provide a much-needed boost to the charity’s valued work in supporting cancer patients being treated in South Lakeland and Lancashire.

Kendal Caravans, based in Selside near Kendal, was marking not just its own anniversary but also the 70th birthday of its founder David Molyneaux.

From a small one-man business started by David at his Blackpool home, the company has grown tors.

Custo which it supplies caravan holiday homes and lodges from major UK manufacturers.

Kendal Caravans, which also maintains an extensive showground, employs around 35 staff working in various departments including technical support, customer relations, and marketing.

It also has a branch in Blackpool whose employees were present at the celebration evening.

The company is currently headed by David Molyneaux’s son Mark who, in a speech at the ball, paid tribute to the hard-working team behind his company’s success.

Their professionalism and commitment to providing a first-class service, said Mark, had helped build Kendal Caravans’ strong reputation in the holiday parks supply industry.

He also made special presentations tor John Cross, all of whom have served over 20 years with the company.

Mark also gave a big thank-you to raise £8,000 for a very deserving cause.

Mark himself is no stranger to fundraising and, as a keen long-distance cyclist, has taken part in various Cumbria and international sponsored charity rides.

Married to join the business.
