Great to see you! Cumbria park welcomes back smiling guests

Full speed ahead: “Everyone’s hard work has paid off” says Henry Wild as guests return to Skelwith Fold

“THE MOST EXCITING TIME in our twenty-five year history!” is how Henry Wild of Ambleside’s Skelwith Fold caravan park describes this Monday’s re-opening of his family business.

After months of closure, the 130-acre park near the shores of Windermere was once again able tomers as part of the government’s lockdown easing.

“We have been preparing for this day for months, and have even taken on extra staff tor Henry.

“But everyone’s hard work has paid off, and the smiles on our guests’ faces as they returned has been a fantastic tonic after their long and much missed absence.

“The park’s 400-plus glamping, touring and holiday home pitches will all be very busy from now until the end of the season, and some summer weeks are already almost full.

Holiday homes on the park are just a stroll from Windermere lake

“However, we are operating our moto ensure an extra element of social distancing.

“Guests will also notice other changes, such as contactless check-ins, regular fogging of public areas, and our shop closed in the middle of the day for additional in-depth cleansing.

“But I’m delighted that children will be able to be explored.

“Actually, our wildlife here – including roe deer, red squirrels and badgers – have been enjoying the lockdown immensely, and our winter feeding programme has kept them all in good shape!

“We’ve also managed to complete the building of an eco-friendly reception centre here which is run on clean energy using an air source heat pump and high-efficiency solar panels.

“Now, though, all of our energies are going to be focussed on giving people the sort of fresh-air breaks which they need and deserve after so long spent indoors.

“Re-engaging with nature will be high on so many people’s agendas, and the Lake District has to make that connection!” said Henry.

Skelwith Fold provides glamping accommodation, including fully equipped safari tents, plus pitches for moto own.
