Holiday home owners boost Neil’s running total for charity

WHEN LANCASTER to complete his first ever 26.2 mile event.

That’s because Neil, the marketing head of Moss Wood Caravan Park, also smashed his fundraising target of £1000 to support a local community centre.

As he crossed the finishing line of the gruelling race, Neil’s to the generous support of guests at the park where he works.

Although he had never completed a marathon before, Neil, aged 34, managed a time of 3 hours and 52 minutes, beating many of the other 30,000 runners taking part.

A keen runner from his school days when he represented his home county of Nottinghamshire, Neil has been training for his challenge since the start of the year.

Many of the miles he put in were in the grounds of Cockerham-based Moss Wood, and holiday home owners impressed with his dedication came forward as sponsors.

Park owners the Wild family also added ton where Neil lives and is also the city’s Deputy Mayor.

He is also a Preston City councillor representing Ingol and Cottam, and is involved with various community groups in his ward.

“I was amazed when my target was reached before the race even started, and my sponsors’ generosity will mean a much-needed boost for a very worthy cause,” said Neil.

“Some of the holiday home owners even came to cheer me on during the marathon which is the second largest in Britain after London.

“Moss Wood is very much a community where people make friends and enjoy social events to see so many getting behind this fundraising effort,” he added.
