Big-hearted guests and hard-working staff at Hendra Holiday Park in Cornwall have created a £6,300 windfall for the charity Help for Heroes.

The sum was raised by the popular Newquay family holiday centre throughout a year of fundraising in 2015, and was presented to the charity this month (March).

Help the Heroes was named as Hendra’s adopted charity for the year at the start of last season, and donations came via a raft of initiatives by the park and its staff.

In addition to raffles and a series of fun events, Hendra has in place a visitor giving scheme which allows guests to add an optional donation when booking their stay.

Together they amounted to the impressive total of £6,310 for the charity which provides help and support for wounded, injured and sick military service personnel and their loved ones.

Hendra Holiday Park director Janine Hyatt said everyone was thrilled at the final tally:

“We would like to thank all those who contributed to Hendra’s fundraising effort, especially our holiday guests whose donations make a big difference.

“We’re also grateful to our staff team who always go that extra mile on behalf of the charities which our park supports.

“Even in difficult times, many people are happy to put their hands in their pockets for a good cause, and we’re delighted to be able to provide these much-needed funds for Help for Heroes,” said Janine.

Hendra’s adopted charity for 2016 is to be the NSPCC, and fundraising is already underway as the park prepares for its re-opening in March.

Hendra is less than two miles from the popular Cornish seaside resort of Newquay, and provides a host of family attractions including an award-winning pools complex with slides and geysers.

There is a wide range of accommodation to rent, from cosy glamping pods to super-luxury lodges and caravan holiday homes, plus pitches for touring caravans, motorhomes and tents.

Hendra Holiday Park is a member of the Best of British group which comprises only family-run parks which have been audited for their high standards of quality and hospitality.
