Guests taking the plunge at a top-rated holiday park near Stirling will now be swimming in some of Scotland’s most environmentally-friendly waters.

Campsie Glen Holiday Park in the village of Fintry has just completed an £80,000 makeover of its outdoor pool which is heated entirely by green energy.

Both the main pool and newly added adjacent baby pool maintain their blissful temperatures with the latest air source heating technology.

The system extracts heat from the outside air even in temperatures close to freezing, and ensures that Campsie’s pool leaves virtually no carbon footprint.

It’s the latest in a raft of forward-looking measures taken at the park to safeguard its flora and fauna.

Other initiatives include a biomass heating system, the use of non-polluting cleaning products, extensive recycling, and the creation of wildlife habitats throughout the grounds.

Meanwhile, Campsie’s pool now starts the 2017 season with a toilet and shower facilities.

It’s a hugely popular feature at the park which is one of five Scottish holiday parks owned by the Wood family who first set up in business over 35 years ago.

Campsie Glen, previously called Balgair Castle, was acquired by Colin and Margaret Wood in 2010, and since then the family has invested much time and energy creating a first-class holiday environment.

Their reward has been tomers.

Nestled in 27 acres of tranquil countryside, Campsie provides caravan holiday homes for sale and for hire, camping pods, and pitches for tents, torhomes.

There are also residential park homes to buy which can be lived in permanently.

Wood Leisure’s operations manager Bruce Thomson said the new-look pool at Campsie is already receiving the thumbs-up from holidaymakers:

“The addition of a baby pool has been especially welcomed by families, and the new enclosure means the facility is now much more weather resistant,” he said.

“Our policy has always been to run our parks along sustainable lines, and we’re proud that the heating of the pool is being achieved in an eco-friendly way.

“Campsie has always had a special appeal to nature in these wonderful surroundings,” added Bruce.
