Honours for Paignton park in SW tourism finals
Paignton’s Whitehill Country Park stood tall in Exeter Cathedral this week after receiving a major accolade in the 2015/16 South West Tourism Excellence Awards.
The Jeavons family, owners of the family run holiday park, took to the stage to collect the bronze tourism award in the camping and caravanning category.
Whitehill Country Park triumphed after undergoing a rigorous judging process and competing against a record 490 entries from across Devon, Cornwall, Dorset, Somerset and Gloucester.
Whitehill Country Park Director Katy Lamsin said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have picked up the bronze award – it’s a huge vote of confidence in all the Whitehill team who work tirelessly to provide our guests with the best holiday experience possible.
“It’s also great to see that all the many investments we have made in our holiday park over the last few years – including the introduction of our boutique hot tub caravans and dog-friendly accommodation – is providing a real recipe of success.”
Set in the heart of the South Devon countryside yet just moments from the sea, Whitehill Country Park offers visitors a wealth of accommodation choices and a highly-praised array of park facilities.
Its holiday caravan accommodation has seen considerable investment in the last two years, with the introduction of 37 top-of-the-range boutique caravans.
Described as “a new dawn in caravanning”, the holiday caravans feature added luxuries including an outdoor hot tub, iPod docking stations and new dog-friendly accommodation options.
Robin Barker, Director of Services for Tourism Ltd which manages the South West Tourism Awards, commented: “The finalists are the role models in tourism, constantly reinventing their offering and making sure this region stays at the fore in what is one of the biggest and fast growing industries in the world.”
