STAFF AND THE FAMILY OWNERS of a mid-Devon holiday park are celebrating after it was named as the Caravan and Camping Park of the Year at this winter’s Devon Tourism Awards.
Yeatheridge Farm Caravan Park was announced as the winner of the top gold accolade at a glittering awards ceremony in Exeter, attended by tourism chiefs from across the county.
Judges said the park’s high quality standards, levels of hospitality and commitment to sustainable tourism made it a very worthy winner of the category’s most prestigious honour.
Based near the picture-postcard village of Witheridge on the fringes of Dartmoor, Yeatheridge Farm Caravan Park first started welcoming visitors just over 50 years ago.
It is based in the 200-acre grounds of the Hosegood family’s sheep and beef farm, and is now owned by James and Collette Hosegood, the third generation to take the reins.
James says the family has invested much time and effort over the years to create first-class surroundings and facilities for visitors to some of Devon’s finest countryside.

Their reward has been to receive a five-star quality grading from Visit Devon, a raft of glowing online reviews, and a large and loyal customer base from the UK and overseas.
Staying options include pitches for motorhomes, touring caravans and tents plus luxury holiday caravans both for hire and private ownership.
Attractions at the dog-friendly park include an indoor pool with waterslide, two well-stocked fishing lakes, and petting opportunities with the farm’s animal residents.

There’s also a popular family restaurant and bar, and a shop which provides everyday needs and locally-produced specialities including fresh meat products from the farm.
Youngsters are also well catered for at the park with a soft play area and a recently completed playpark offering a range of different challenges for all ages.
James Hosegood said that Yeatheridge Farm Caravan Park has long attracted visitors seeking a tranquil and peaceful setting, and who share a love of the natural world:
“There is an amazing range of woodland and country trails around the park, and the chance to spot some of the abundant wildlife which the area sustains,” he said.
“We endeavour to make our park a match for these glorious surroundings, and it’s wonderful to have our efforts recognised at the Devon Tourism Awards.
“We’re delighted too that judges highlighted the levels of hospitality and the warmth of welcome which visitors enjoy when they stay at Yeatheridge Farm.
“Delivering this is very much in the hands of our fantastic park team, so they also deserve a large share of the credit for helping us achieve this award,” added James.
New projects now being taken on by James and Collete include the planting of hundreds of high pollen-bearing blooms to provide vital foraging for honey bees and butterflies on the park.
