STAFF at a highly acclaimed holiday park near the shores of Windermere are finishing summer on a high after hearing that they have scooped a brace of prestigious tourism awards.
Park Cliffe Windermere Camping and Caravan Park, operated by the Caravan and Motorhome Club, says the two awards are the icing on the cake after a spectacularly successful season.
In the first honour, Park Cliffe was named as one of the UK’s best-loved holiday destinations by major holidays bookings company Campsites.co.uk
The park was awarded a coveted place on its annually published Outstanding Sites list, ranking it among the top 150 campsites and holiday parks in the UK.
Next came the news that Park Cliffe had won the AA Gold Award for 2026/27, one of the most prestigious awards given out by the AA to its highest rated parks.
In order to qualify for the gold standard, Park Cliffe was subjected to a rigorous inspection regime which scrutinised almost every aspect of its facilities and services.
The park achieved an overall excellence score in excess of 90%, and in the opinion of the inspectors can truly be described as a caravan and camping park right at the top of its game.
Manager of Park Cliffe Julie Ward said that her team was proud and delighted to be singled out for two major accolades following a “fantastically busy” summer:
“These awards mean a lot to us because both are focussed not just on the quality of our facilities, but also the type of experience we provide to guests,” she said.
“They include the reviews of people who have stayed at Park Cliffe, and who comment on the welcoming atmosphere and friendly service which they receive.
“Creating those type of memories is very much in the hands of our park team, so they must take a big share of the credit for these achievements,” added Julie.
Set in 25 acres of countryside framed by a backdrop of mountains and lakes, Park Cliffe provides touring caravan, motorhome and camping pitches plus glamping pods.
It is surrounded by an abundance of wildlife, including squirrels, deer, foxes and a wide variety of different bird species – and generates its own green energy from a solar array.
The park’s commitment to the natural has been recognised by the late TV botanist David Bellamy who awarded the park his prestigious Gold Conservation Award.
Park Cliffe was this year taken over by the Caravan and Motorhome Club under a long-term lease agreement, and is a member of the Holiday and Residential Parks Association (HARPA).
