HENDRA HOLIDAY PARK in Newquay has come away from this winter’s Cornwall Tourism Awards with three major accolades from the judges.
And the family owners and staff team are especially delighted as the awards coincide with Hendra Holiday Park’s fiftieth anniversary celebrations.
The awards ceremony took place at Truro Cathedral in front of more than 300 guests representing tourism businesses and organisations from across the county.
First came the news that Hendra Holiday Park had scooped the top gold award in the Holiday Park of the Year category of the competition, beating scores of other parks to the title.
Then it was revealed that Hendra’s park manager, Chris North, had taken a silver award in the Unsung Heroes category of the Cornwall Tourism Awards.
Finally, the judges announced that Hendra had taken the prestigious overall Winner of Winners award in the contest, now in its 21st year.
Hendra Holiday Park’s managing director Jon Hyatt said that everyone was delighted with the honours which the park had achieved:
“This year we celebrated half a century in businesses as a Cornish family-run independent business, and winning three awards was an amazing moment.
“We’re so proud to not only be crowned gold award winners for Holiday Park of the Year, but also Winner of Winners, plus after a well deserved accolade for our park manager Chris North for his hard work and dedication to the business.
“What a fantastic way to climax the end of our fiftieth season!” added Jon.
Hendra Holiday Park celebrated its birthday in 2022 with a number of key events including visits from popular children’s characters Peppa Pig and the Dinosaurs, and a fireworks finale for its guests.
The park first started welcoming camping guests in 1972, and today provides a wide range of attractions including a pools complex, professional entertainment and family activities.
