Cameras go behind scenes as top Somerset park re-opens

As seen on television: holiday caravans and lodges at the park are set in spacious landscaped surroundings

THE BEHIND-THE-SCENES DRAMA and emotion of a holiday park re-opening after lockdown will be revealed this month (March) in a new television series.

Holiday Resort Unity in Brean Sands, Somerset, last summer allowed Channel 5 film-makers to access all areas as guests at the park streamed back in July.

The resulting six-part documentary takes an engaging and intimate look at how the lockdown affected those who work and stay at the popular 1000-pitch family-run park.

In the first hour-long episode, to re-opening preparations.

It’s a time of hopeful anticipation, but also uncertainty as the weeks of closure draw to the safety of its team and holiday guests.

“We’re all looking forward to their happy place,” added Alan.

Holiday Resort Unity has been a family-run business for over 70 years, and began as a camping field shared with a 100-strong herd of dairy cattle.

Today, the park has more than 1,000 pitches with holiday caravans and lodges torhomes.

On offer are not just first-class surroundings and leisure facilities, but also Brean Leisure Park with its range of funfair rides, attractions and family entertainment.

The first episode of the Channel 5 series, called “Happy Campers – The Caravan Park”, airs on Sunday 14th March at 8.00pm.
