Motop Cumbria park

FIRST-TIME motourers.

That’s because Skelwith Fold in Ambleside is going all out torhome this year.

“It’s clear that many people during lockdown were dreaming of experiencing just such a holiday, and now their chance has come,” said park director Henry Wild.

“Hiring a moto ensure that their first taste of this lifestyle will give them an appetite for more.

“That’s why Skelwith Fold is taking steps this summer to help them avoid any rookie errors which could spoil their stay.”

Plenty of room touring guest numbers

Guests arriving at the 130-acre park for the contactless fast check-in will be asked by staff if they have visited before, and offered help if this is their first motorhome outing.

They can even do their homework in advance via a virtual tour of Skelwith Fold’s grounds on its website, and become familiar with the driveways and location of pitch areas.

These include super-pitches located just alongside the reception building for easy access – and another video shows some of the approaches to guests.

Henry Wild says Skelwith Fold is often chosen by beginners for their first motorhome excursion because of its location amid classic Lake District scenery:

“People can see on the map that we’re only a half hour from the moto gain some useful experience of negotiating smaller country roads,” he said.

“We’re also deliberately operating below capacity at the moment to facilitate social distancing, so navigating around the grounds and parking up shouldn’t present any hurdles.

“Motorhome hire firms usually do an excellent job of explaining everything during handover, but after that you are on your own and it can feel a little daunting.

“Our message is, never be afraid torhome users nearby, which often happens.

“Even though we opened just a few weeks ago, some of our first-timers have already become second-timers, so we’re delighted that those lockdown dreams are living up to expectations!” added Henry.

Skelwith Fold is a former winner of Cumbria Tourism’s Park of the Year award, and its extensive touring facilities are detailed on the park’s website at www.skelwith.com
