Family’s holiday park voted Dorset’s dream destination in national poll

South Lytchett Manor in Poole is cool for camping and glamping holidays say magazines’ readers

Readers of two top-selling touring magazines have voted a Poole holiday park their favourite destination in Dorset for caravan and motorhome holidays.

Family-owned South Lytchett Manor has been announced as the Dorset regional winner of the Top 100 sites awards run by Practical Caravan and Practical Motorhome.

It emerged as the county’s overall winner in the annual national poll of its readers carried out by the two publications – for the second year in succession.

But the accolades didn’t stop there, because South Lytchett Manor was also voted a place in the magazines’ national league table of parks delivering exceptional experiences.

It featured among the top ten UK parks offering glamping and touring caravan facilities, and came second in both UK categories for top camping parks and top motorhome parks.

“We are absolutely thrilled and extremely proud to retain our title as Dorset Regional Winner,” said Megan Aspden, director at South Lytchett Manor.

“To also be recognised across three major national categories is a fantastic start to our 2026 season at South Lytchett which could be one of our busiest on record.

“These awards are especially important to us as they are based on the feedback of guests who have stayed on the park, and who were clearly delighted with what they found.

“Their votes were not just for our quality standards, but also the friendliness and hospitality provided by our staff team, and they deserve a big round of applause for their efforts.”

Megan is the daughter of Joanne and David Bridgen who took over the glamping and camping park almost 20 years ago, and today joins her brother Matt in helping to run the business

South Lytchett provides glamping pods, Romany caravans and shepherd’s huts, plus luxury Mongolian yurts with decor and furnishings on an opulent North African theme.

The dome-shaped yurts have been hand-built in neighbouring Devon using sustainable ash hardwood, and feature Moroccan-themed lanterns, mosaic tiles, and ornamental mirrors.
