GOLF PLAYERS have swung into action in Kendal to support a children’s charity which provides free holidays for youngsters with life-threatening illnesses.
And after the last ball had been sunk at Carus Green Golf Club in Kendal, it was announced that the teams had raised an impressive £3,175 for the cause.
The well-attended fundraising golf day was sponsored by Kendal Caravans to provide much-needed funds for Donna’s Dream House in Blackpool.
The charity says it will use the donation to benefit the children and teenagers who, along with their families, can enjoy paid-for stays in the famous seaside town.
Family-owned Kendal Caravans has its headquarters in Selside near Kendal, and also a branch in Blackpool. It is today one of Northern England’s largest holiday home distributors.
The charity golf day was organised by two of the business’s longstanding customers, Blackpool residents Chris and Sarah Taylor, aided by Vanda and Andrew Richardson of AR Golf Events.
Prizes included a top-of-the-range Swift Sprite touring caravan for anyone achieving a hole-in-one – but despite some near misses, it returned to Kendal Caravans unclaimed!
Also showcased on the day was a state-of-the-art Swift Carrera 184 campervan which drew plenty of interest from those in attendance.
Kendal Caravans MD Mark Molyneaux paid tribute to everyone who had contributed to making the event an outstanding success, including the 40-plus players who took part.
He also thanked the many Blackpool and Cumbrian business which had supported the day, and the company’s Blackpool Dealer Principal Phil Tabiner who had co-ordinated the activities.
Mark himself is no stranger to fundraising and, as a keen long-distance cyclist, has taken part in various Cumbria and international sponsored charity rides.
