Lake District holiday parks score hat trick with Cumbria in Bloom judges

Blooming lovely: the team at Woodclose Park in Kirkby Lonsdale celebrate Cumbria in Bloom’s award

LAKE DISTRICT ESTATES has paid tribute to its green-fingered park teams after the group scored a triple triumph in this year’s Cumbria in Bloom awards.

Three of its parks won bouquets in the competition after judges made inspections at each, assessing the displays across a range of criteria including their environmental value.

Woodclose Park in Kirkby Lonsdale and Clea Hall Holiday Park near Carlisle both received the prestigious Gold accolade, while Waterfoot Park near Ullswater achieved a Bronze.

This year’s awards had a special significance as they coincided with Cumbria in Bloom’s 40th anniversary.

To mark the milestone, the organisation earlier this year launched a county-wide tree planting initiative, donating 40 trees to early entrants in the competition.

Clea Hall Holiday Park near Carlisle was a winner too

Lake District Estates took part in this celebratory project by planting three of the commemorative trees across its award-winning parks, including Ullswater’s Waterfoot park.

The planting at Waterfoot was attended by chair of Cumbria in Bloom, Keith McIntosh, alongside Lake District Estates directors Georgina Townsend and James Clarkson-Webb.

Also present was Rachel Bell, head of marketing and business development at Lake District Estates who said that everyone was thrilled at the Cumbria in Bloom awards:

“The passion our teams and holiday home owners put into their gardens and green spaces is truly inspiring,” said Rachel.

“These awards, along with the 40th anniversary tree planting initiative, showcase the positive impact that a collective environmental effort can have across our communities.”

Rachel said she extended Lake District Estates’ heartfelt thanks to the Cumbria in Bloom committee, and to Capsticks Nursery in Carlisle for sponsoring the 40-tree initiative.

She also paid tribute to the parks’ visitors whose enthusiasm and commitment to the natural world help the company create and nurture greener spaces across the Lake District.

Lake District Estates is a family-owned business with six holiday parks in Cumbria and a marina in Lancashire, as well as tourist attractions, retail shops, and a portfolio of other properties.
