RESIDENTS at The Elms retirement park in Torksey, Lincolnshire are proving that age is no barrier to becoming a video star and gaining a public following on social media.

That’s because The Elms is now featuring some of its park home residents in a series of specially shot videos which focus on their out-and-about lifestyles.

Posted on Facebook and the park’s own website, the aim is to a retirement filled with new interests and friendships.

At the same time, The Elms is also hosting regular live streams on Facebook in which the business’s family owners answer oft-asked questions about park home living.

Still available to view after each broadcast, the Q&As address a raft of different subjects which are often brought up by those considering their living options for later in life.

Tracey Coulson, a family member and director:

“It’s surprising how many people love the idea of moving to a residential park like ours, but are unclear about what’s involved, or how people here live their lives,” said Tracey.

“In our live streams, we go right back to basics about the costs of owning a park home, how these properties differ from bricks-and-mortar, and the way they are constructed.

“But just as importantly, we want to explain the lifestyle on offer and illustrate the community spirit which so many residents tell us is what they value most about being here.

“This is where the videos can help tremendously because they show couples and single people coming to enjoy shared experiences as part of their everyday lives.

“We see residents having a great time at the village croquet club, and boarding their own minibus for a visit town of Newark – one of their many regular outings.

“It’s amazing how keen many mature folk are on social media, and our live streams and videos are a fantastic way to get across some very important messages,” added Tracey.

Encouraged by the take-up so far, the park now plans a series of Gogglebox-style videos in which residents chat to the camera in their homes about park life and their interests.

The Elms has been under the Kinch family’s ownership for over 35 years, and its 340 park homes for people aged 50-plus are located in 65 acres of landscaped grounds.
